Draghi Nashi,
Već znate da je subota dan kad pohodimo muzeje i galerije Sidneya. Jučer smo se uputili vidit dvi izložbe dizajna (klik, klik). Sadržaj im je odličan, ali forma malo stufa i brzo nas je savlada muzejski umor. Ali zato smo između te dvi vidili izložbu koja nas je stvarno oborila s nogu. Izložba fotografija Odjeća za život i smrt. Autorica je Margareta Kern, a njena mater je krojačica koja u Banja Luci kroji maturalne haljine po uzoru na haljine iz časopisa. Margareta onda slika cure u njihovim haljinama, ali ne glamurozno, nego njima doma, u običnim dnevnim boravcima i sobama. Sve slike možete vidit na internetu, ali kakva bi min to Cosmo djevojka bili da nismo slikali onu koja je po uzoru na Cosmopolitan.

Onda smo skužili da ima i drugi dil izložbe. Jer da je slikajući maturalne haljine Margareta načula maminu prijateljicu koja je rekla da joj je mater išla u Zagreb kupit robu u koju će je sprovodit. I onda je Margareta krenula slikavat i starice koje pokazuju robu koju su parićale za vlastiti sprovod. Odma smo se sjetile svoje Babe koja je svaka 2-3 miseca zvala Nas ili Sestru i pokazivala Nan u robu u kojon ćemo je sprovodit. Sjetili smo se i barbe Mikota kojen je nevista u kasu s njin stavila njegovu dentijeru i karte. Jerbo je barba Miko jadno voli igrat na karte.

“Smt ne može čekati odjeću nego odjeća mora čekati smrt.” rekla je Kaja, jedna od fotografiranih starica.
Ovako to izgleda u galeriji. Gore su maturantice i život, dole su starice i smrt.
Da koncept bude savršen Margareta Kern je na otvaranju izložbe obukla kopiju Gaultierove haljine.
Odavna nismo na izložbi doživili katarzu, ali Odjeća za život i smrt nas je pročistila, izokrenula naopako i protresla skroz. Čak smo i mukom zarađene dolare dali za katalog.
Dobro, ovo je bilo o tuđoj robi, a sad malo i o našoj. Nakon izložbi svratili smo i u butigu. I to ne bezveze. Ovo je naša nova vesta:

List filodendrona. “philo” jubav + “dendron” drvo = “drvo jubavi”
Kupili smo je na opaki popust jer inače košta tisuću i po kuna, a ni ni od svile ni od kadife, a bogami ni ovi list ni od safira nego od plastičnih šljokica. Ali je kao dizajnerska (kao klik)
Ovu setemanu predviđaju paklene vrućine, taman za premijeru veste.

You allready know that Saturday is our day for musems and galleries. Yesterday we went to see two design exhibition dizajna (click, click). Their content was great but form is a bit mind-numbing and soon we were overwhelmed museum fatigue. But in between those two exhibitions we saw one that swept us off feet. The photo exhibition Clothes for living & dying. The author is Margareta Kern, and her mother is a tailor from Banja Luka that makes prom dresses inspired by fashion magazines dresses. Margareta then takes photos of those girls in their prom dresses, but not in a glamorous way but in their homes, in ordinary living rooms and bedrooms. You can find all the photos on the Internet, but being a Cosmo girl I took a picture of the dress made after the Cosmopolitan cover.

Then we found out that there is another part of the exhibition. Because spending time in her mother’s shop Margareta heard about an old woman who went to Zagreb to buy the clothes she’s going to be buried in. So, Margareta started taking photos of the old women showing the clothes they’ve prepared for their own funeral. Immediately we remembered our Grandmother who every 2-3 months used to call us or our Sister to show where is her funeral clothes. We remember our neighbour Miko who enjoyed playing cards and when he died his daughter-in-law had put with him in the coffin his denture and his cards.
This is Julka. Because of its quiet atmosphere this photo reminds us of Vermeer.

This is how it looks like in the gallery. Upstairs are the prom girls and the life, down are the old women and the death.
The concept is worked out all the way: at the opening of the exhibition Margareta Kern was dressed in the copy of the Gaultier dress
We haven’t experienced the catharsis at the exhibition for a long time, but Clothes for the living & dying cleaned us, turned us inside out and shooked us.
Anyway, this was about other people’s clothes, it is time to talk about our clothes. After the exhibition we stopped by a shop. And this is our new dress:
And this is the detail that made us buy the dress:
Philodendron leaf. “philo” love + “dendron” tree = “love tree”
It was on a huge discount. Otherwise we wouldn’t have bought it because it’s not worth the money they were asking for. It is not silk nor it has gold embroidery and this leaf is not made of sapphires but of plastic. But, like, some designer, like, made it (like click).
It is going to be very hot next week, we saw it on TV. Pefect for the dress premiere.
